Wall from Gupta dynasty, brick structure of 1,500 year old temple, discovered in Bangladesh
“During the ongoing archaeological excavation, walls, held together with mud, about two metres wide and antiques including part of an ornamental brick have been found,” said Nahid Sultana, custodian of the department of Archaeology, government of Bangladesh.
According to a report in The Daily Star, most of the bricks on the walls of the temple are 35cm long, 27cm wide and four centimetres thick.
Red Crescent fears death toll in cyclone-hit Bangladesh may cross 10,000
Dhaka, Nov 19: The death toll in the cyclone-hit country may cross 10,000, according to the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.
"We have already identified 2,750 bodies. Based on our experience in the past and reports from the scene, I would suggest the death toll may be as high as 10,000," said Prof M Abdur Rob, Chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.
On Sunday, the death toll in the cyclone-hit country touched the 2,000-mark.
Over 425 feared dead as Cyclone Sidr hits Bangladesh
Dhaka, Nov 16 : Over 425 people were feared dead and thousands others injured in Bangladesh, as the powerful cyclone Sidr lashed the country's south and south-western regions of the country last night.
"The hurricane crossed the coast at 3:00am early today (Friday) and was now lying over the southern and central parts of Bangladesh as a land depression this morning, " the Daily Star quoted a latest meteorological office bulletin, as saying.
The death toll can rise and the extent of the damage is still unclear, Nahid Sultana, an official from Bangladesh's Ministry of Relief and Disaster Management was quoted as saying by the BBC.
